I also understand that it is a fact that at the moment, at least in a general sense, that alternative energy is more expensive than being on the grid. But you should also understand that alternative power is being used to reduce pollution as well as to conserve the fossil fuel we still have left.

So don't get too caught up in the cost effectiveness aspect without keeping in mind that you also have to question the values you posses as well as how you value what you spend your money on.
